Mapping a Quiet City
Building a small atlas of overlooked urban places and the notes they generate.
cartographywritingfieldwork
This project began as a simple habit: marking small places that changed the pace of a day.
Some of them are physical locations. A stair landing with unusual light. A riverside bench that always catches the late afternoon. A corner store that becomes a social node after rain. Others are harder to classify. They are not destinations so much as recurring states of attention.
The current version of the project is a mixed notebook:
- short field notes
- hand-drawn route fragments
- small essays on scale and mood
- questions about how people remember cities
I do not want to turn it into a polished product too early. Right now it works better as a loose archive with enough structure to revisit patterns later.
